Tried calling you this morning and whomever answered hung up. I live in DeKalb and belong to the American Legion. I wish to collect materials for the refugees or soldiers in country as needed and ship to Ukraine thru your pickup service. AER? Would like to use the American Legion as drop off for our residents. However, if I can't do that I'll deal with a local Church. My question to you is, what do you suggest we preferably collect? Please respond. atereze39@gmail.com 815 508 2916

This is a hidden gem in the west suburbs. Small but premium and concise selections of mushrooms, cream, smoked fish and meats. They hooked me up for my blini fest.

Eurus Deli is a very small store. It specializes in Eastern European food products - that's why I go there regularly: to taste foods of my old country. Service is friendly. My usual take is sausages, marshmallows in chocolate ("zefir v schokolade"), pryanicki, "herring under fur", "glazirovannyye syrki", buckweat, canned mushrooms, tsitsibeli, red caviar... - all relatively exotic fare by American standards. Never tried their cheeses or bread.

I can't comment on the deli portion; they have meat, cheese and fish, in addition to canned/jarred groceries (jam; borscht). I picked up some candy by the pound (delightful miniature hard candies with intense fruit flavors) and some chocolate covered vegetarian marshmallows (made with pectin). Vanilla-flavored, noncoated vegie marshmallows are available as well; I'll be coming back to try them. The chocolate covered ones have a fairly strong lemon flavor, with a little crunchiness along the edges, like there's a cookie in there somewhere. Texture isn't that marshmallowy but they're tasty and it's a treat for a vegetarian who doesn't get to eat marshmallows often. Open late.
